I am excited to reveal that we've been working with a fantastic designer and will be revealling our new company logo in August!
You can never underestimate the importance of keeping your paperwork!
As a rule of thumb, we always suggest, if you aren't sure, keep it!
Now I know what your thinking, but believe me it'll save you alot less time later on when you are looking for that one invoice or receipt to enter into your accounts or even worse, to prove to HMRC that you exported an item..
(we had this exact situation with a client recently..He's a fantastic salesman but had got himself into a spot of bother with HMRC as they were requesting proof of export for his accounts and he couldn't produce it, let alone remember the exact dates of when it was!.. Needless to say, we assisted him in contacting the shipping company, but it took them several weeks to track down the documents, and in the meantime he was being fined £10 a day by HMRC for being late).
My advise would be to have a box file ( or online storage such as google drive for pdf's) where you keep all your invoices, receipts etc. Inside the said box / file keep a folder for each month and simply keep the documents in the right locations. I personally use clear document wallets.
Then when it comes to processing your return or providing the documents to your bookkeeper / accountant, it'll make things much easier and quicker and cost you less in their time!
If you use Xero, then when you or your bookkeeper inputs your invoices and receipts, then can upload them directly to the accounts.
We have been busy over the last few month, not only working for our clients, but also building a new office, so that we can continue to offer you a great service and take on more clients.. below is a shot of one side of the office, taken as we were putting the room together.
